Anesthesiologist, ICU Physician, and Patient Safety Advocate bridging human compassion with the future of digital health and AI.

Harvard, Yale & Johns Hopkins Alum. Dual-continental clinical practice (USA & New Zealand).

Dr. Ayonija Maheshwari, MD MPH FANZCA, anesthesiologist and ICU physician

About & Mission

The doctor at the head of the bed, and the daughter holding the hand.

For seventy-one days after her mother's heart transplant, Dr. Maheshwari lived on both sides of the ICU curtain — the physician who understood every number on the monitor, and the family member waiting for someone to explain what it meant.

That vantage point clarified something she had sensed across two continents of critical care practice: it is rarely the science that fails patients. It is the human layer — the handoff that never happened, the specialist who never spoke to the other specialist, the family left to interpret silence.

Her work now sits at that seam. Thoughtfully integrated AI and digital health tools can bust the clinical silos that fragment care, absorb the administrative weight that pulls clinicians away from the bedside, and return attention to where medicine actually happens: the connection between a clinician and a patient.
